hello, just fitted some LED foglights instead of the standard yellow H11's. Now i get message in BIS there is problem with them, but they work !! the seller told me they are the canbus-version so i do not get the fault-message..... cold monitoring is off ..but that is for licenceplate lighting. any tips ???
Hi ! As far as I know, it is not that simple ! Others tried before ! I guess you either have to live with the BIS message or you have to use other bulbs. Take care, Oli
Need help! Very interesting! How is it possible to make cold monitoring off? Did you made it by yourself? I´m very interested in, especially for licenceplate ligthing for using LED-lights. It would be very helpful to get more information for that. Thanks a lot.
According to my experience with BMW's OBD system ( 7 series ) which should be in principal similar to VCDS, the monitoring function ( Kaltlichtüberwachung ) for the car's lighting system can be disabled. Maybe with the cold monitoring for the license plate lighting you simply disabled the wrong function. I would search VCDS for the cold monitoring function for the head / fog lighting. I do not know whether there is this option at all. The polarity for the A1's fog lamps doesn't seem to be inverted. That's why they are working. That's good news ! The fact that there is a monitoring function for the license plate lighting might be of big interest for this community. Some guys here tried to use the 2012 version in their 2011 models which doesn't work without the BIS message. Your cold monitoring information might be the key to this problem.
The cold monitoring function for the head / fog lighting : not found yet but monitoring function for the license plate lighting is of big interest for this community i read on dutch forum...no use for us with yellow plates is my opinion.
Sorry I don`t understand. You wrote in your first article that cold diagnostics for the licence plate is off. How did you get this information? Or how are you able to find it out? And yes, this could be the key for upgrading to LED-lights. Best regards to the Netherlands
can you please tell us, how you found out to turn off the cold monitoring function for the license plate lightning. which control unit of the car did read out with VCDS and which coding? THX
